March Meeting

Hi Everyone,
Despite the ever threatening Covid 19 This month's meeting is scheduled to take place as normal - the theme[s] - Shadows or Shoot the Moon.
Should be interesting
As a precaution the committee have agreed that until the virus threat has passed we will not be making teas, coffees etc or be providing biscuits. Sorry folks.
I have been in contact with the secretary at the Hythe Community Centre and have been assured the building is operating as normal and that additional, stringent cleaning measures have been implemented. We'll just have to make sure we all comply with the published basic hygiene instructions. Copies attached.
Hopefully you should find 3 attachments, borrowed from work, just as additional and hopefully useful information for everyone.
Stay healthy and hopefully see you all on Wednesday.
Best wishes
Ian

Re: March Meeting
Hi Everyone,
Not sure if my earlier post went or not.
Follow on from Saturdays post.
Given the uncertainty and fast changing status of the Covid issues, I thought it only fair to check to see how many members will be attending on Wednesday.
Trevor, Lisa, Joe and I are prepared to attend and I know that Robert and Phil won’t be there.
Could members please advise of their plans.
Many thanks and stay well

I plan to attend Ian although I have no images to share. I do, however, have an idea to put forward for the next group display GD10.
See you Wednesday

Re: March Meeting
Good Morning Everyone,
Well, Boris has spoken, draconian times ahead.
We cannot ignore Government advice and must therefore cancel Wednesday's meeting sadly.
Could you all acknowledge this post so that the committee and I know that everyone has been informed and members don’t make a needless trip to the community centre. Thank you.
So as not to waste people’s image preparation time, perhaps we could share any images we had ready for the meeting by posting them on the forum.
Along with the other committee members, I will do my best to keep everyone informed and updated.
For the moment, stay safe and keep well.
Best wishes.
Ian

Re: March Meeting
The 3 shots I had for this evenings meeting -
The street lamp most will have seen before.
The sun dial was captured on an Autumn day out to Aldeburgh
The tree image was taken in the walnut orchard close to my home in Boxted - again as part of my course.
Will stay in touch.
Best wishes

Re: March Meeting
Hi all,
Michelle, the family shot is great! For me the fence shot is the strongest, I love the strong lines and the diamond patterns created by the fencing, this contrasts nicely with the green. Well seen and well captured.
Ian, love the trees image as again great contrast from the shadows against the grass. However I think the lamp shadow image is really good very simple, but again the contrast against the brick work is what makes it a really strong image.

Re: March Meeting
Hi all,
Some great shots being shown on the shadows theme.
Here are my 3. The London shot was taken in B&W on a very rainy, dreak day with lots of contrast so was ideal for B&W.
The Sun flare shot was taken at Marks Hall just after sunrise in winter, and is a backlit shot to emphasise the shapes of the trees etc.
Finally the sunbeam shot through the trees was taken at Minsmere very early and was a shot I had been trying to capture for some time.

Re: March Meeting
Good to see all these photos - keep 'em coming! Trev I like your London shot very much - the strong shape of the central building framed by the darker ones on either side. Interesting how converging verticals are a plus here while in other shots they look as if they need correcting. Ian love your street lamp shot - three for the price of one, and those super strong colours. There are houses in my street n the same style and vintage - great! Michele as well as the great doggy shadow I agree with Trevor regarding your fencing shot, with those nice diamond shapes. Perhaps a bit stronger contrast would bring them out even more? Phil
Re: March Meeting
Shame we are missing tonight, it would have been nice to catch up.
For what it's worth I really like the Tree Stump and Glass pics from Phil, the Family pic from Michele and London by Trevor is "off the bloody scale"!!! Love it.

Re: March Meeting
So these were the images that I was going to show tonight. Not taken many "Shadow" pics but took these whilst on holiday at Huntingdon Beach last summer.
I think that the first image demonstrates the difficulties I face when taking photos with members of my family present! (Well that's my excuse!).
Note to self - must clean sensor!

Re: March Meeting
Great images there Richie, all really strong images but 2 and 4 are by far the standout ones for me. Love number 4. Really strong composition and love the colour and the shadows.
Well seen and taken.
High standard of images being shown on the theme!
